About Singapore

Singapore is a stable and highly developed country in the South East Asia region. The country is renowned for its efficient goverment, first class infrastructures, as well as being a global melting pot of diverse cultures. The country's orderly, clean, and greenenvironment have attracted people from all over the world to visit, work, and study. Singapore is one of the most cosmopolitan countries in Asia with various ethic communities living together in harmony. Due to Singapore's strategic geographical location and free trade policy, the country is the business and financial hub of the region. The city state has enjoyed strong and stable economic growth since gaining independence in 1965. Over the last decade, Singapore has also developed a vibrant art and cultural scene. The country is evolving at every moment which provides a different experience unique to Singapore!

Climate

Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate with no distinctive seasons, uniform tempature and pressure, high humidity, and abundant rainfall. Tempatures usually range from 23 to 33 degrees, April and May are the hottest months, with the wetter monsoon season starting in November and ending in January.

Currency

The local currency is Singapore dollars and cents. A 7% goods and services tax (GST) is imposed on all purchases. Tipping is not practiced in Singapore as most hotels and restaurants already levy a 10% service charge on bills. Major credit cards are generally accepted by establishments, including American Express, Diners Card, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa. Another widely-used method of payment is NETS, which allows you to make payment with your Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.
