Meet the Staff

Sonia Flor, our National Director, is responsible for overall operations, program development and working with our board. Before being nominated as National Director, from 1989-2009, she was in charge of our finances and provided administrative support for our incoming and outgoing programs.

Myriam Flor is the Director of Incoming Programs. She has been working with volunteers since 1994.

Marylene Messina, our incoming Programs and Volunteer Coordinator, is the person you will mostly be in contact with both before and during your volunteer service. Former volunteer in Ecuador in 2002, she has been working with EIL Ecuador since 2006.

Luis Alfonso Avila  is the Academic Director of our Spanish language and Culture Center with an extensive background in teaching and directing Spanish programs.

EIL Ecuador is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-political organization founded in 1977 to provide intercultural learning programs for Ecuadorians and people from other countries. It is governed by a General Assembly that meets annually and presided over by an Executive Board. It is a member of the International Federation of National Representations of the Experiment in International Living (Federation EIL) and as such is a partner within a network of 22 autonomous Experiment Representations around the world. In Ecuador it is a member of the Ecuadorian-North American Chamber of Commerce as a non-profit institution, ILTA International Language Testing Association and AECEE, Association of Centers of Spanish Teaching.

EIL Ecuador provides cultural exchange and language programs for hundreds of Ecuadorians and international participants each year. Our personnel includes 13 permanent staff members, language teachers and individuals contracted to provide special services.
